Charles E. Donovan, III
Charles
Donovan was a study patient in the clinical trial for the
investigation of vagus nerve stimulation as a treatment for
chronic depression. He was implanted with the device in April
of 2001.
On
June 15th, 2004 he was a presenter at the FDA Medical Device
Advisory Panel Meeting in Washington, D.C., where the Panel
recommended approval of vagus nerve stimulation as a treatment
for chronic or treatment-resistant depression.
A
graduate of Georgetown University, Donovan began his career
in the management training program of what is now JPMorgan
Chase. He is the editor of the VagusNerveStimulator.com Web
Site and Bulletin. Currently, he lives depression-free in
St. Louis, Missouri.
