Biography:
Charles Entwistle
Charles
(Chuck) Entwistle graduated from Tufts University, then
served twenty one years in the Marine Corps, from which
he retired in 1981 as a Lieutenant Colonel.
Following
retirement Chuck was drawn again to his first love, the
love of literature,
which he had experienced in
his college days. After working for several years on a variety
of writing projects, including a book on Alzheimers
disease, he graduated in 1999 with an MFA from Vermont College,
the first graduate program to offer a Master of Fine Arts
Degree in Writing for Children and Young Adults. He was asked
to stay on as a graduate assistant.
His writing
experience continued with writing workshops both at the
Highlights/Chautauqua
Summer Writers program
and at the Highlights for Children writing facilities in
Honesdale, PA. As a perpetual student of the writing craft,
he has also pursued other writing courses in California and
Florida, including Robert Mckees Story Structure Workshop.
This year he participated in the 2005 Sarasota Reading Festival,
and presented two talks during the 2005 Emerald Coast Writers Conference
at Fort Walton Beach, Florida.
His
articles and stories have appeared in several childrens
magazines, including Cricket, Highlights for Children and
Club House. Chuck and his wife, Jan, live at Bradenton,
Florida.
