John
Baines (literary pseudonym for Dario Salas Sommer)
is a contemporary Chilean philosopher, and founder of the
Dario Salas Institute for Hermetic Philosophy, of which he
is the Director and Spiritual Master. The Institute for Hermetic
Philosophy is an organization dedicated to dissemination and
practical, real-world application of the ancient philosophical
wisdom of Hermetic Philosophy, which is based upon the development
of consciousness and profound self-knowledge. Since Mr. Baines
began the organization in 1961 in Santiago, Chile, it has
spread through South America to Europe and North America,
and has thousands of members worldwide.
Mr.
Baines is a modern philosopher whose unique approach unites
contemporary psychological practice with ancient philosophical
wisdom. From an early age he has given his heart and soul
to the study and dissemination of this practical philosophy
based on the esoteric principles of Hermes Trismegistus. As
a man, he encompasses the universal qualities of true humanness,
and is dedicated to the betterment of humanity through his
personal teachings, lectures and writings.
Mr.
Baines began publishing in 1966, quickly becoming acclaimed
for works such as "The Secret Science," "The
Stellar Man," "Does Woman Exist," "Depresion
y Angostia," "The Development of the Inner World,"
"The Science of Love," "HypsoConsciousness,"
which have been translated into many languages, and which
have sold hundreds of thousands of copies worldwide
His
latest title, "Morals for the 21st Century," focuses
on the unique perspective of Morality, not as a strict, dogmatic
code of behavior, but rather as a rational and practical means
of achieving happiness and success in every aspect of life.
His writing style is at once straightforward, clear and precise,
accounting for his universal appeal.
As
a practical objective, Mr. Baines' philosophy aims to guide
man on his search for universal truth, happiness and inner
peace through the unique, profound, and comprehensive methods
of true Hermetic teaching.
At
present, Mr. Baines divides his time between lecturing and
overseeing the Institute headquarters in his hometown of Santiago,
and tours abroad in other South American cities, the United
States, and Spain.
