Debbie Bishop
DEBBIE
BISHOP grew up in Los Angeles, California where she resides
today. After VP stints at two independent studios, Debbie
went into the marketing biz forming her own design and printing
firm to manufacture materials for the entertainment industry.
Recently, she has expanded her business to include the creation
of consumer products and brands, publishing and entertainment.
In
2001, Image comics launched, BLACK TIDE, Debbie’s first
comic book. She created and wrote the series after years of
research on Atlantis, and scientific and historical data that
she thought might help make a thrilling,,fictional story.
BLACK TIDE is currently published by Angel Gate, a subsidiary
of Debbie’s own production label, Left Field Ink.
However,
Debbie’s talents are not limited solely to the sequential
world; a fact which she proved in March of 2002 when her book,
MARTHA'S GOT NOTHIN' ON ME - a humorous, illustrated cookbook
of ‘Pre-Fab’ recipes and easy entertaining tips,
written with her sister, Cori Berg - was published by Winding
Star Press. She had not forgotten her roots in comics, and
would soon publish the first in a line of science-fiction/action-adventure
novels called, BLACK TIDE RISING which are based on her popular
and long running comic book series. Unlike the comic, the
novels are set during the main characters formative teenage
years and deal with issues many teens face in our world today.
The
first in her BLACK TIDE RISING series entitled, ENTER THE
GAME, will be released May, 2003.
Shortly
following, Debbie will return with DEFENDING THE REALM, focusing
her story on Prince Theros of Atlantis. Then PROTECTOR OF
THE TRIUNE, which follows the independent female character,
Kaila as she leaves home for the first time. Both characters
are prominent figures from her original comic book series.
Future
works to be on the look-out for include THE FAIRIES OF BLADDERWHACK
POND and more from the Dish & Flo Collection including,
FRIENDS LIKE YOU ARE BETTER THAN CHOCOLATE.
