Biography:
Diana M. Johnson
Diana
Johnson, a direct descendent of the great medieval king, Charlemagne,
is a member of the Order of the Crown of Charlemagne in the
United States of America. Her historical novels are based
on her family tree. Destiny's Godchild, winner of the 1999
B.P.S.C. IRWIN Award in fiction, creates a medieval legendary
beginning for the House of Charlemagne. Pepin's Bastard tells
the story of Charles Martel (Charlemagne's grandfather) and
Quest for the Crown, the story of Pepin the Short (Charlemagne's
father.)
Past
President of the San Fernando Valley Branch of the California
writers club, Diana has served as a delegate to the CWC State
board of directors and State Treasurer. She was the 1995 recipient
of the Jack London Award for service to the CWC. She frequently
lectures on researching and writing historical fiction.
A
fourth generation Californian, she was born in Los Angeles,
attended Occidental College, graduated from UCLA with honors,
and earned her master's degree from California State University,
Northridge, also with honors.
She
taught music in the Los Angeles and Beverly Hills Unified
School districts. Diana and her husband, Bill, live in the
San Fernando Valley. They both hold private pilot's licenses
and have toured most of the United States by private plane
as well as more conventional means. They have also toured
Europe, Africa, China, Australia and New Zealand.
Diana,
a member of the DAR and the Jamestowne Society, is now hard
at work researching and writing the first of two novels set
in Colonial Virginia.
