Biography:
Francine R. Goldberg
Francine
R. Goldberg received her Ph.D. from the Rehabilitation
Counseling Program at New York University (NYU) in 1981,
following her doctoral research, Academic Achievement
Bias among Community Mental Health Workers. She has more
than 30 years of experience in the fields of mental health
and psychiatric rehabilitation, including counseling,
supervision, administration, staff development and clinical
risk management at South Beach Psychiatric Center, a New
York State Office of Mental Health facility. She has taught
graduate and undergraduate students while on the adjunct
faculties at New York University and the City University of
New York, Lehman College. Her courses included
Rehabilitation Counseling Labs, Diagnostics and Treatment in
Psychiatric Rehabilitation, Counseling Microskills and
International Interviewing, Couples and Family Therapy, and
a four course series in Psychiatric Rehabilitation. She has
also had a successful psychotherapy, clinical consultation
and training practice.
Dr. Goldberg is
currently involved with Beneficial Film Guides, Inc.,
a publishing company that she created to increase knowledge,
awareness and understanding about race, gender, culture,
class, sexual orientation and disability among general
audiences. The company publishes conveniently downloadable
books that are based on the entertaining venue of Hollywood
movies, as exemplified by the title, Schizophrenia: A
Case Study of A BEAUTIFUL MIND.
Dr. Goldberg has to
her credit multiple national and international professional
publications and presentations that address topics I mental
health, psychiatric rehabilitation and the use of the
multimedia in the delivery of mental health services. She is
credentialed with the following professional certifications
and licenses: CRC, NCC, LMHC, LPC and LRC.
