Bowker Biography:
Frero Gracia

The hostile environment of New York City was the environment that Frero was born into. As a resident of a Queens housing project, he witnessed first hand the turmoil that engulfed the community. Poverty, racism and a poor educational system were just some of the factors that contributed to this chaos.

Growing up in a single parent household was a plus and a minus for him. The lack of resources made things hard on the family but the tireless effort that his mother put forth to keep the family together had an effect on him. He realized that he would have to embrace a positive lifestyle so that her work would not be in vain. He wasn’t always able to do this but he knew the importance of making the attempts.

As he grew older, he watched the young men in his age group gravitate towards drug dealing. As glorious as this lifestyle seemed to be on the surface, it was hell beneath the surface. This profession produced a lot of prisoners and took the lives of young men. Frero was tempted to live this lifestyle but managed to stay away from it. He knew the “fast life” paid well but he did not want to risk becoming a statistic. As time went by, he realized that he would have to move away from this community in order to make any real changes to his life.

Frero managed to make it out of this community but he was confused about what to do with his life. After several failed attempts at trying to blend into society, he found his gift as a writer. He decided to sharpen up his writing skills. He used his storytelling abilities to describe the world that he knows all too well. He has completed his first book, The Genuine Articles, which is a group of lyrical creations based on his life experiences. He is now writing on a regular basis and is in the process of building the Wise Ideas publishing company.
