Biography:
Gina Scarano-Osika
A post-doctoral
fellowship at Strong Memorial Hospital-University of
Rochester and resident training in pediatric psychiatry have
sharpened Dr. Scarano-Osikas skills in a new branch of
conventional psychotherapy designed to treat Binge Eating
Disorder, Anorexia, and Bulimia. In contrast to old
fashioned analytic theory, Dr. Scarano-Osika has replaced
non-directive therapies with brief-symptom focused
interventions designed to get results. Rather than laying
on the couch, Dr. Scarano-Osika sees her client-patients as
an active and integral part of the treatment planning. Since
progress is paramount, Dr. Scarano-Osika has spent the
last decade doing whatever it takes in order for her
patients to get better, both emotionally and physically.
About four years
ago, Dr. Scarano-Osika began seeing patients with compulsive
overeating and obesity. Her patient persistence and
knowledge about how to treat Binge Eating Disorder has
helped many people develop a weight loss plan that works
best for them. The Friendly Mirrors book is a compilation
of such techniques.
From a personal
standpoint, obesity is common in her family of origin. Dr.
Osika herself was a heavy set child. Her mothers chewing
gum analogy helped her control her weight well into her
adult life and is now the best standard of practice in 2006.
