Biography:
Imelda Roberts
From
a humble beginning of being a maid and a domestic help to
the Ambassador of the Embassy of Australia, Imelda Roberts
is now a successful executive assuming critical roles in the
government sector in the Washington, DC region and an
executive officer in various regional and national
organizations. Her book, Barefooted Soul, a memoir
that chronicles her life of poverty to finding prosperity, a
homeless scholar, a victim of domestic abuse, a corporate
professional from the Philippines who migrated to the United
States, and against all odds, rose above difficult
circumstances culminating in a 2006 Ellis Island Medal of
Honor, one of countrys most prestigious honors with her
name being listed in the Congressional Records.
She was featured in
several local/national and international publications
including the Washington Times, Washington
Business Journal, Manila-US Times, Filipinas
Magazine, Frederick News Post, Asian Journal,
and other media for diverse contributions ranging from human
resources, publishing, technology to a personal musical
volunteer initiative honoring the September 11 heroes and
victims.
A prolific writer,
Imelda completed her book, Barefooted Soul with forty
stories written in forty consecutive nights. She is also the
author of a 319-page employment guide, J.O.B.S An
Employment Guide to the Metropolitan Washington, DC. In
a short period of time, she composed and produced over 20
songs and two CD albums. She was the Executive Producer of
her first CD entitled, We Saw the Best in You. She
also composed a song entitled We are the Children of the
World, which has been translated into 17 languages.
