Biography:
James Forte
My
views: Trueness in art is trueness to the spirit, to
life itself. Such art illuminates life in its aspiring verities
and varieties. The best in Art is nothing we can take credit
for. I am dedicated to the trueness in Art, to its intrinsic
beauty and its transformative purpose. We artists have a responsibility
to the Spirit and to our fellow humans to help, not harm them.
True art is the profound affirmation of life.
In the arts even as a pre-school child, James Forte has focussed
on music and poetry, with some personal exploration of the
visual arts. Of his poetry it has been said, Enchanting!
Gour Das, Professor Emeritus, Delhi, India; I find
it dense with the great imperative Paul
Caponigro, photographer. He has published ten books of poetry:
Arrowshaft, Foam Upon the Shore,
Chaconne, Alone, Man of
Stone, The Transparent Hero, The
White Eagle, New Water, When the
Rope is Untied, and White Tiger White Stripes.
Early praise of his music by American musics leading
composers and other international artists has been followed
by steady praise and appreciation by audiences, radio program
hosts and reviewers. He has composed for solo instruments,
chamber ensemble, chorus, and orchestra and, since the mid
1980s, for electronic instruments. His musics deep
communication with audiences sets his work apart. In the words
of one reviewer, He goes his own way. He has
published five compact disc albums: Golden Light,
At the Edge of Dawn, Rokkas Return,
Through the Mist, and Music of James
Forte. For release in April 2003 is the compact disc
And the Day After I Die.
The artist has been the recipient of numerous awards honoring
his work in the arts and civic affairs.
A
prolific artist in both music and poetry.
James Forte is the epitome of creativity, versatility
and musicianship. Metaphysical Reviews; Richard
