Biography:
James P. McCarthy
JP
McCarthy (1949), though native to Quincy Massachusetts, was
raised in the Washington DC area. Following his 1967 high
school graduation, he attended Frostburg State College (Maryland)
earning his B.S. in Education 1971. JP Discovered his penchant
for writing during college; eventually becoming a writer and
editor for Frostburg's newspaper, State-to-Date.
After college, McCarthy taught grade school for four years,
then entered the University of Maryland School of Dentistry
in 1976, graduating in 1980 with a doctorate degree in dentistry.
He has written for several national publications, including
The Robb Report and Victory Lane Magazine. In 1991, he wrote
and published a non-fiction book, Vintage Racing, Start to
Finish, encompassing the ins and outs of getting started in
racing classic sports cars.
A practicing dentist for over twenty-three years and a Colonel
in the United States Army Reserves, with over twenty-three
years of combined service, McCarthy uses those experiences
and expertise to weave his debut novel, GROUND ZERO and BEYOND.
The stimulus behind "GZ & B" came after receiving
a phone call from the FBI asking McCarthy to come to NYC and
assist in the identification of bodies after 9/11. Although
he never went, the question, "What if?" plagued
his mind. After thirteen months and several re-writes, this
work of fiction became a reality. Every American wants to
know what happened to Osama bin Laden. Through McCarthy's
informed opinion and extensive research, the disposition of
OBL is discovered, rendered and told in a way that will fascinate
and enthrall the reader.
