Biography:
Janet Laurel
What
would you do if you were given two years to live?
At 42, Janet Laurel was diagnosed with advanced breast cancer.
Facing high risk and arduous treatments with little hope for
a cure Janet made the decision to use whatever time remained
to focus on her health and well-being. Quality of life was
far more important than how long she survived. Thus, she explored
and discovered the best that conventional and alternative
medical care had to offer, becoming a champion for a new approach
to cancer treatment: integrative medicine. Miraculously, seven
plus years and 47 chemo treatments later, Janet is alive and
thriving.
"Heart and Soul: What It Takes to Promote Health While
Confronting Cancer" is the spellbinding story of her
journey from diagnosis to recurrence; immediate side effect
to long term side effects; conventional physicians to spiritual
healers. "Heart and Soul" contains reassuring and
powerful messages for survivors, care givers, health care
providers, friends and family members about the cancer journey.
True to Janet's character, she discovered an unmet need, and
despite a terminal diagnosis, founded the Cherubim Foundation
(www.cherubimfoundation.org)
in 1998. Cherubim's Project Hope has since assisted more than
eighty women to experience the benefits of comprehensive integrative
medical care not otherwise covered by insurance.
A speaker, trainer, consultant and much beloved mentor to
her clients, Janet continues to defy the odds, living a full
and productive life despite the continuing presence of cancer.
