Biography:
Jeff Goldsmith, Ph.D.
Jeff
Goldsmith is one of America's premier healthcare futurists.
He owns and operates Health Futures, Inc., a firm specializing
in corporate strategic planning and healthcare trend forecasting.
He has consulted widely for firms spanning the health system
spectrum.
Dr.
Goldsmith is an internationally known public speaker and writer.
His latest work is the new book Digital Medicine: Implications
for Healthcare Leaders. This book provides a provocative view
of how our health system will look and feel when we have learned
how to harness the power of technology. Dr. Goldsmith explains
how technologies will solve many of our most pressing healthcare
concerns and will reshape how hospitals, physicians, consumers,
and health plans interact with one another. He explores how
the imminent technological advances will affect every aspect
of healthcare, from diagnosis and payment to communication
with physicians and quality of care. He contends that the
American health system is on the brink of a fundamental transformation
made possible by information technology. When the digital
transformation is complete, vital information about our health
and our specific treatment options will be freed from books,
paper medical records, and physician memories and moved to
the point of care, literally at the speed of light.
Dr.
Goldsmith is also associate professor of medical education
in the College of Medicine at the University of Virginia.
He has taught health policy and management at other leading
institutions including the University of Chicago Graduate
School of Business and the Wharton School at the University
of Pennsylvania.
