Bowker
Biography:
Kate Adamson
Kate's
Journey; Triumph over Adversity is the story about an
ordinary woman with an extraordinary story. In the blink of
an eye, your life can change forever.......Kate's did. An
active 33 year old with two small toddlers was struck down
by a double brain-stem stroke leaving her paralyzed from the
neck down. Kate was trapped inside her body unable to communicate
with the outside world. Her only means of communication was
the alphabet, blinking out one letter at a time.
Kate's
unbreakable spirit and incredible will to survive, transformed
her from a helpless victim into a powerful champion. She overcame
one in-a-million odds and enjoys life today with her family.
The book takes you through her journey, capturing you from
page one. This book is a must read for not only stroke survivors
and caregivers but the health profession, rehabilitation therapists,
counselors, families and physicians. Kate's Journey
is a powerful story of determination, perseverance and prayer.
Her message is so simple yet so powerful, focus on what you
can do. Step by tiny step, your goals can be met, even in
something as small as the blink of an eye.
"Wondering
how I could ever read a book about someone's stroke, quickly
turned into wondering how I could ever put the book down.
It was witty and filled with Kate's actual thoughts. I was
now getting first hand the pain and thoughts that were going
through the mind of my own husband, because he was now living
Kate's Journey; her nightmare of paralysis and the inability
to speak."
