Biography:
Kay Meyer
Kay L. Meyer is a popular author and the founder and president
of Family Shield Ministries, Inc. based in St. Louis,
Missouri.
Meyers husband, Tjaden, developed an interest in bison after
going on a buffalo hunt several years ago. He became
interested in raising bison and took Kay to visit several
bison farms. They watched the bison and noticed how
family-oriented the animals werethe babies were curious and
adventurousness, the mothers attentive. The bisons behavior
and the Meyers grandson inspired the idea for the childrens
book.
Meyer is the host of the Family Shield radio program
that is heard each week on Christian radio stations in St.
Louis and Chicago. She has authored secular and Christian
publications for children, youth, and adults and is a popular
speaker on family life, prayer, and spiritual nurture.
Publications include: Teaching Your Children Christian
Values (CPH, 1996), Life in the Sandwich Generation (CPH,
1995); Mission Field on Our Doorstep (FSM, 1994); Portals of
Prayer; Teachers Interaction; My Devotions; and The
Adventures of Billie and Annie--Baby Bison and is
columnist of The Great Commission for the St. Louis
MetroVoice newspaper.
Meyer has a Bachelors of Science in Education from
Harris-Stowe State University and a Masters of Arts Degree in
Media Communications from Webster University. Meyer and her
husband, Tjaden, have been married 38 years. They have three
grown children and two grandchildren.
