Biography:
Loralie Harris
The
artistic talents of Loralie Harris were evident early in her
childhood and were encouraged by her creative mother and grandmother
as she grew up in the 1950s in California. In high school
she began designing and making special occasion dresses for
her friends. In college she studied costume and fashion design,
always preferring fancy and fantasy. After college she opened
her own boutique where she sold her one-of-a-kind creations

27 Loralie was married and moved to Ketchikan, Alaska where
her husband, Chuck, built a shop for her on the towns
rustic and picturesque waterfront. After the birth of their
son and the urging of a valued supplier and garment industry
veteran, they left Alaska to begin the wholesale manufacture
of Loralies gowns.
Loralie
Originals became a very successful company within the bridal
industry showrooms across the United States and Europe. Loralie
is a four-time recipient of the prestigious DEBI (Distinctive
Excellence in the Bridal Industry) Award in the category of
prom. Her designs have been featured in Seventeen, Teen Prom,
Your Prom, YM and Elle Girl.
In
1998 Loralie Originals became an Internet company, Loralie.com.
Currently, the companys products are sold worldwide
to ladies who look to Loralie for fanciful, ladylike and whimsical
style.
Loralies
life experiences have included the loss of her mother at 14
and more recently, a bout with breast cancer.
Loralies
more recent works (Loraliedesigns.com) and published writings
are drawn from her life experiences as a little girl, dressmaker,
designer, mother, businesswoman and traveler.
