Biography:
Margaret Wyman
Margaret
Wyman likes her history on the rocks, with a twist.
She became outraged when she visited Californias missions
and saw how the padres were venerated and the Native Americans
story was neglected or non-existent. From Wymans outrage
came Mission: The Birth of California, The Death of a Nation.
Wymans first published novel, its the story
of Web, a young Kumeyaay bride who sees her life and dreams
shattered when the Spanish priests and army leatherjackets
invade Southern California.
Her
second novel, Shining Mountains, Western Sea sprang from her
frustration at never having a glimpse inside the heads of
the ordinary crew members of the Lewis and Clark Corps of
Discovery. With few exceptions, the books and articles
about the Expedition focus on the captains, Wyman explained.
But what about the crew?
Peggy
Wyman has an ongoing love affair with the written word. With
a Bachelor of Science degree in mathematics from the University
of Idaho, Peggy worked her way through a successful career
in the ranks of giants such as General Dynamics, Hewlett-Packard,
and Pacific Bell. Yet, she longed to transform her success
as a scientist, gifted speaker, and star salesperson into
a rewarding writing career. Since leaving corporate America,
she has done just that. The author of three historical fiction
novels and numerous essays and articles, she is now hard at
work on a trilogy, called String of Pearls, tracing the lives
of three generations of women from the famines of Ireland
to the wilds of America
