Biography:
Margie Doran
Margie
Doran was born in Jersey City, N.J. and lived all of her childhood
on 50th Street, North Bergen, New Jersey. Margie gleans all
of her juvenile writing from that time. Her love for nature,
spiritual beauty and innocence has given way to her inspiration.
She has been a published poet and wrote Child Abuse for ABC
News. Her poetry has graced the walls of television reporters,
judges, and major corporations as well as family and friends
where she has written explicitly for each individual. Mrs.
Doran has lectured on poetry and writing at many elementary
schools. It was during this time Sunflower Serenade was field-tested.
although, she has stated, "At the conception of this
book, I had assumed it would be for very young and preschool
children, but found it appealed to 8 years olds as well."
All her writing is always field tested because she says, "Children
are very honest; they tell the truth, and my success is attributed
to their enthusiasm to want more of my stories. When they
start asking will I come back again, or what will be my next
book, I know they liked what they read. Children are underrated
and much more imaginative and nostalgic than some adults even
realize."
For
the past eleven years Margie Doran has taught many children
how to write creatively. Marge Doran now lives in Maryland
with her husband. She is active in her church, is a mother
and grandmother who continues to write in many venues.
