Bowker Biography:
Margot Silk Forrest

Margot Silk Forrest…a unique breed.

“We can change the world, because we ARE the world.”

A combination of self-disciplined editor, successful corporate manager, and free-spirited creative writer, Margot Silk Forrest is a unique breed. Don't ask her how these seemingly opposing energies ended up in one person, or how they manage to live and thrive in harmony, but they do. And well.

A former top-ranked manager for Hewlett-Packard, and news editor for the San Jose Mercury News and Dallas Times-Herald, she is co-author of two popular non-fiction books, The Soul in the Computer: Story of a Corporate Revolutionary and EMDR: The Breakthrough Therapy. In 1992, Forrest founded The Healing Woman, an international nonprofit organization for adults recovering from childhood abuse.

In 2001, Forrest followed her dream to “change the world, one heart at a time” and wrote her first book with this focus, A Short Course in Kindness, which was published in April 2003. She is currently working on her next project, The Shapes Happiness Comes In.

A compelling speaker, writer, and workshop presenter, Forrest’s wisdom, wit, and down-to-earth style inspire her readers and listeners to take action by using her “tools of kindness” in the workplace and in their personal lives. She is a driving force for kindness—urging us to wake up to the way we treat one another, and issuing a passionate challenge to us all: Live kind. Change the world!
