Biography:
Michael Robert Gorman
Born
and raised as Michael Robert Gorman in New Jersey. After completing
high school, Mike entered the Army and was stationed in Germany
with the 2nd of the 2nd Armored Cavalry Regiment. He patrolled
the east/west German border. After being honorably discharged
he moved out to Denver, Colorado. He is married to his wife
Cheryl and they have a daughter Lilly.
In
1986 he started Computer Cabling and Peripheral Installation
(CCPI) by himself. Over the next 16 years he built the company
up to 40 employees and two million a year in gross revenue.
The computer and telephone market was changing by leaps and
bounds, and trying to keep ahead of it by training his employees
was Mikes major focus. He began writing Mikes
Basic Guide to Cabling Computers and Telephones back
in 1989. It was designed to give his employees a clear idea
on how to perform their jobs. He published the book in 1997
through Prairie Wind Communications, Inc., a company that
he and his wife Cheryl had started. Soon after in 1998 he
published his second book Mikes Basic Guide
to Cabling Computers and Telephone in Homes and Apartments.
Both books have been constantly updated as the technology
progresses. In 1993, Bob Kyle the director of NACSE (National
Association of Communications Systems Engineers) asked Mike
to develop a course on the physical cabling infrastructure
for colleges. The following books Student Outline Workbook
and the Instructors Training Manual are used
with his main book on cabling as a textbook. These courses
are used in Colleges and high schools today.
