Bowker
Biography:
Nancy Dunwoody
Perspective
changes with time. Looking back at life, I cannot ignore a
young lady in military service, who met the love of her life
while being a soldier. But this momentous event pales in the
shadow of a tombstone, and before the burden of raising their
son alone, free to be himself, without benefit of a living
father. A shift in perspective shows this not to have been
such a burden after all. Gracious! What fifty years can do!
Somewhere
along the way was more training and an entire career as an
office manager and vocational teacher. There was even a short
dip into college teaching, and a second marriage which was
not made in heaven. There were traveling jobs, computer work,
a brief foray into sales, but always work. And in the background
lurked these medieval people – these characters –
this family. They came to be closer than actual relatives,
just as quirky, and even exasperating.
With
retirement, the research stepped out of books and entered
the field of travel. Oh, yes, there were still lots of books,
but many of them were in French, requiring another college
course and an immersion program in Provence. And the story
shaped itself – not just of the ancient people, but
of the fun and risks of digging out the stories. Life also
brought new perspectives on the Life ahead, and from these,
and through my dreams, I found my title and the philosophy
it represents. I welcome you to share in the adventure.
