Biography:
Natalie R. Ray
I
was a student at Denver University School of Nursing when
I opened my heart to the Lord Jesus Christ. He came into my
life and changed everything! Soon I discovered that Missions
is what God is doing. Mathew 24:14 says it in a nutshell:
"And this gospel of the kingdom will be preached in the
whole world as a testimony to all nations, and then the end
will come." And I wanted to be right out there on the
front lines. My professional career would find me in a hospital
in the middle of the rice fields of central Thailand, delivering
babies, supervising the Operating Room and giving the anesthesia.
I
am also a poet, which is where my book, BATTERED HEART comes
in. The poems in this devotional cover five decades of my
life, tracing my journey as a single from adolescent bitterness
to maturing joy. I call it my "loaves and fishes,"
referring to the story in John, chapter six. A small boy gave
his lunch of five barley loaves and two fish into the hands
of Jesus; with this He fed 5,000 men. My prayer is that He
will do it again!
What
they are saying:
"I
am fully in accord with your purpose and feel it is greatly
needed. I am very much impressed with your gift of expression."
Elisabeth Eliot
"As
I read your poems I was struck by their freshness and fervor,
and by your seemingly effortless handling of rhyme and rhythm.
You certainly have a gift with words." Lucy Shaw
