Bowker Biography:
Pat Conover

Pat Conover is a transgender person, an ordained minister of the United Church of Christ for 35 years, and a sociologist. Pat's M. Div. is from the Chicago Theological Seminary, and Pat's Ph.D. is from the Florida State University. Pat's career has included lengthy stints as a professor of sociology, as a minister in local congregations, and as an advocate for justice issues in Washington, DC. Pat is married with children and grandchildren. Pat is a frequent lecturer or workshop leader on transgender issues and has been active in transgender conferences and organizations.

Pat's story is woven into Transgender Good News at numerous points. Although Transgender Good News is only tangentially about Pat, the inclusion of Pat's story shows the groundedness and the biases that come with a book based on experience as well as on research and reflection.
