Bowker
Biography:
Pat Lovely
Pat
Lovely was born in Huntington, West Virginia in l941. She
grew up with her Grandparents until l948 when her father,
mother and brother finished a tour of duty in the United
States Navy. As a small child, she understood the importance
of how much love and family were associated with cooking.
Not only was her grandmother an excellent cook but every
body in her family loved to cook as well. Her father came
home, took his place in the kitchen, and brought with him
his love, experience and knowledge of cooking with spices.
After a long career
in Housing Administration, and raising a son and a daughter,
she moved south following a divorce in l984. She worked as a
realtor for several years but the lifetime dream was to open
a restaurant on or near water.
This dream came true
in l987 when she opened the first grease free restaurant in
that region. The most wonderful thing about having the
restaurant was that the customers and employees were just
like her family. She said, the first time she heard, Miss
Pat whats for dinner? it was evident she had established a
family atmosphere.
Pat's life has been
an interesting one with many challenges.
After multiple Hurricanes, it became necessary to close her
beloved restaurant. Thanks to the support of her family and
friends, she had the strength to start over again. Writing
the cookbook was the vehicle that made it all possible.
