Bowker Biography:
RITA J. WISE

Rita J. Wise a native of Indianapolis, Indiana and President/CEO of Wise Publishing Company. She graduated from Indiana University Purdue University at Indianapolis in 1993 with a Business Certificate and in 1995 with a Bachelors Degree in General Studies.

She self-published her first book of poetry entitled: Wise Poetry Celebrating Life in February 2001 which can be purchased at Borders, B. Daltons, Barnes & Noble and Book Store in Indianapolis.

She conducted live poetry readings at the Arts Garden in July 2001, The Black Writer’s Reunion & Conference in Dallas, Texas in August 2001, Nationwide Sales Christmas Giveaway in December 2001, and Fortnightly Book Club in November 2002. In kind donations of book have been made to Big Sisters Auction, June 2001: March 2003 and Children’s Bureau of Indianapolis, April 27, 2001.

Wise periodically teaches a continuing education class at IUPUI and is a member of the IU Neal Armstrong and IU School of Business Alumni. Her autobiography appears in Marquis Who’s Who in America 2004 Edition, Manchester Who’s Who 2003 Edition and Marquis Who’s Who in the World 2004 Edition.

She is currently employed as an Account Executive in Advertising at the Indianapolis Recorder Newspaper. She instructs a class at Indiana University Purdue University at Indianapolis through Continuing Studies entitled: Self-Publishing Getting your Book into Print.

Pieces of her work are found in local publications such as: Riley in Memorial, Wyndam Hall Press, Edgar Allan Poe, Bristol Banner Books, Poems of Great Americans, World of Poetry and the National Library of Poetry. Recently, she received a scholarship and the Diamond Homer Award from the Society of Famous Poets in Anaheim, California, in “special recognition” of her poem entitled, “What Manner of Man Is He?”

Her poems reflect her thoughts, feelings and confirm that even though situations in life are not perfect, creative writing allows an opportunity to positively express those situations, through the art of poetry. Conclusively, Wise’s philosophy is to entertain her readers by celebrating life through poetry.
