Bowker
Biography:
Ron Schaaf
Ron
Schaafs first hand experiences have carried him
from shark encounters while scuba diving on coral reefs,
to flaming infernos in the vast forests of the Rocky Mountains,
to meeting giant Kodiak bears in the tundra of Alaska.
He writes about the wilds with authority and, often times,
chilling realism that only personal experience can provide.
Hes an authority on bear behavior.
At age
60 Ron lives big every minute of his life. Last year, having
survived
not only a serious infection, coma and several
major abdominal surgeries, but also two hurricanes trying
to destroy his home, this strong man could not be kept
down. Two weeks after his release from the ICU, he
was attending a writers conference in Orlando. He
is often found air boating in the Everglades and exploring
wildlife refuges. He is planning a trip back north
of the Arctic Circle observing glaciers, the Aurora Borealis,
and polar bears.
With
a degree in social psychology from Dallas Baptist University
and
graduate work at Southern Methodist University, he has
worked as a street gang outreach officer, counselor, camp
director and juvenile corrections officer. He has just completed
the fictional tale, Criminal Just-Us, a book about injustice
and inhumanity in todays current criminal justice
system.
In Tigers Quest, the sequel to BearClaw, the maturing,
teenage Tiger and a friend attempt sailing a sloop from the
west coast, around the South Americas Cape of New
Hope to New York, but must meet challenges of frigid weather
and pirate dope smugglers.
