Steven E. Wilson, M.D.
Steven
E. Wilson was born in Oklahoma City in 1951. He was raised
in Whittier, California, and was educated at California State
University, Fullerton (B.A. Biology, 1974) and the University
of California at Irvine (MS Molecular Biology and Biochemistry,
1977). He received his MD degree from University of California
at San Diego in 1984.
He
took his residency in ophthalmology at the Mayo Clinic in
Rochester and his fellowship in Cornea and Refractive Surgery
at the LSU Eye Center in New Orleans. He served on the faculties
at the University of Texas Southwestern (1990-1995) and the
Cleveland Clinic Foundation (1995-1998) and was Professor
and Chair of Ophthalmology at the University of Washington
(1998-2003).
He
is currently Director of Corneal Research and Staff in corneal
surgery and refractive surgery at the Cole Eye Institute of
the Cleveland Clinic Foundation. Dr. Wilson is a cornea and
refractive surgeon and scientist with an international reputation
and more than 200 medical and scientific publications. Winter
in Kandahar is his first published work of fiction.
