Biography:
Vicki Ward
Vicki
Ward writes short stories, and poetry, and is working on
her first novel. She worked as a writer for Roots Magazine,
interviewing celebrities and writing reviews for CD releases
by R&B, gospel, and jazz artists. In 1999 as a member
of a touring theater troupe, she traveled to the Soviet
Union, performing in the chorus of the Greek tragedy Oedipus
adapted with a Southern Baptist Church flavor. She
wrote and published an article detailing her experiences
interacting with the people she met there, from the vantage
point of an African American woman, observing life and
culture in the former Soviet Union.
She
is the editor, Lifes Spices from Seasoned Sistahs; A
Collection of Life Stories from Mature Women of Color,
which was awarded Best Anthology for 2005 by the Los Angeles
Black Book Expo
in June 2005. The book was published by her company,
Nubian Images Publishing in March 2005.
She
is also a member of
several writers, and publishers organizations
including The National Association of Women Writers,
SPAN, Black
Publishers Organization, and NCBPMA.
