Bowker
Biography:
Vivian Owens
Vivian
Owens wrote the book, NADANDA THE WORDMAKER, and it won a
Writers Digest Award. Her new book, HOW OSWA CAME TO
OWN ALL MUSIC, arrives after several years of telling the
story to hundreds of school children. In OSWA, the author
departs from her usual storytelling process and writes in
lyrical form. She says she hopes the story will make for easier
reading and listening for younger readers. As Oswa dances
his way across the universe, his heroism emerges in spontaneous
courage while he defies seen and unseen dangers. What wins
readers hearts is the gentleness pouring from this
heros soul.
Owens is at her best motivating and inspiring readers. She
writes youth literature and educational books. A former high
school Chemistry teacher, Vivian simultaneously developed
Parenting For Education Workshops and the Parenting For Education
(PFE) book because of her concern for younger children, while
still teaching. At the start of her writing career, she produced
and hosted Parenting For Education as a local radio program
and followed this with a newspaper column that eventually
reached readers of over 200 newspapers over the course of
several years. Currently, her PFE columns appear regularly
with blackgrandparents.com. Her magazine articles have been
published by Upscale Magazine, About...Time Magazine, The
Virginia Science Journal, and other publications.
To
her surprise, she found herself writing a history book, after
the death of her father. The book, THE MOUNT DORANS: African
American History Notes of a Florida Town, met with enthusiasm
from local politicians, long time residents, and scholars
across the State and country.
For the books debut, Vivian Owens signed books in Mount
Dora, Florida. However, most readers are more familiar with
her youth literature books or the educational books.
Books
by Owens take the author on many journeys, and she enjoys
meeting people and reading fan mail. For more information
